Telemis-Medical PACS ready for the French SEGUR programme, paving the way for European image exchange programmes

A digital Ségur for radiology?

The aim of the Ségur digital health initiative is to extend the seamless and secure sharing of health data between professionals or with patients. It takes place against the backdrop of the launch of “Mon espace santé”, accessible to all French citizens from 2022.

Private radiologists and hospital imaging departments are encouraged to equip themselves with software compatible with “Mon espace santé”. These software upgrades will be financed in 2 waves. The first wave, currently being rolled out, targets RIS (Radiology Information System) and addresses the issue of sharing reports and compatibility with core technologies. The second wave will target RIS and PACS (Picture Archiving Communication System), addressing examination requests and image data sharing.

The DRIMbox?

DRIMbox is an image-sharing device. It’s also a software application for sharing and exchanging imaging data between the imaging departments of radiology sites alongside practices. The initials DRIM stand for "Data Radiology, Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine".

In practical terms

Medical imaging examinations will continue to be stored at each site. They will be referenced in the DMP (shared medical record).

Using the DRIMbox on their site, healthcare professionals can query the DMP to consult the list of medical imaging examinations carried out for a patient throughout the country.

When an examination is selected, the DRIMBox interrogates the PACS of the site concerned, enabling the examination to be viewed using a viewer integrated into the DRIMbox.

Telemis invests to support you better

As a major player in medical imaging in France, Telemis has been involved right from the specification phases of the DRIMBox.

Numerous exciting discussions have taken place since the official launch of the Ségur de la Santé in May 2020. With contacts from the DNS and the ANS, professional unions and various manufacturers.

As Telemis' desire has always been to have solutions that meet market requirements and make life easier for our users, it seemed logical to launch the development of the native DRIMBox through the Telemis-Medical PACS/MACS. Through this development, Telemis wishes to remain the guarantor of the smooth operation of the DRIMbox solution over the long term, while ensuring a high quality of service.

And when will that be?

According to the agenda of the Agence du Numérique en Santé (ANS), the publication of the regulatory texts is scheduled for the end of October 2023. From the time of publication, the timetable will be as follows:

  • Within 10 months of this publication, publishers will be able to make referencing requests to the ANS.

  • Within 15 months, publishers will submit orders received from customers.

  • Within 24 months, deployments must be completed in order to be covered by the ANS.

In the short term, the Telemis agenda is as follows:

  • In May 2023, Telemis took part with 3 other publishers (NEHS, Dedalus, Medsquare) in the initial test phases.

  • At the end of September 2023, an "Interoperability Projectathon" was held in Rennes, enabling publishers to test their compliance with the specifications in real-life situations.

  • In October 2023, Telemis will be at the Journées Françaises de Radiologie to give you a hands-on demonstration of this famous DRIMbox.

  • In the course of 2024, we will be running tests on the implementation of Telemis DRIMBoxes at the first pilot sites.
